How Sinead Garrity Built Social by Sinead & Co. into a Boston Agency Managing Social for 45+ Brands

May 7, 2026

Meet Sinead Garrity, founder of Social by Sinead & Co., a Boston-based social media agency she started six years ago and has grown into a multi-six-figure practice now managing social media for 45+ local and national businesses each month. Her team specializes in social media management, content creation, strategy, consulting, and coaching across a variety of industries, and the approach is hands-on and strategy-driven from the first conversation.

What makes Sinead's agency feel different is the team and culture she has built around it. Every full-time employee has stayed with her long-term, client retention is unusually high for the category, and kindness is a non-negotiable hiring criterion. With two boys under three and a third on the way, she is also living proof that ambition and presence at home are not a tradeoff but a design choice.

Please share a brief introduction and your business:

I'm Sinead Garrity, founder of Social by Sinead & Co., a Boston-based social media agency. I started the business six years ago and have grown it into a multi-six-figure agency with a team that now manages social media for 45+ local and national businesses each month.

We specialize in social media management, content creation, strategy, consulting, and coaching for businesses across a variety of industries. Our approach is very hands-on and strategy-driven. We help businesses create content that actually connects with people while building a strong and consistent online presence.

I'm also a mom to two boys (2 & 1 years old) and currently pregnant with baby boy number three due in August, so life is very full over here in the best way.

Take us back to when you launched. What was your marketing strategy?

When I first launched my business, my strategy was honestly pretty simple: networking and using social media as proof of my work.

I focused heavily on building relationships, putting myself out there, attending networking events, connecting with other business owners, and consistently showing up online. I shared behind-the-scenes content, client results, content I was creating, and the day-to-day reality of building the business. I wanted people to see the work instead of just talking about it.

Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

Yes. Growing up, I was surrounded by entrepreneurship. I watched the men in my family build and run very successful businesses, so from a young age I saw firsthand what it looked like to create something of your own through hard work, consistency, and taking risks.

That environment definitely shaped me and gave me the confidence to believe I could build something myself one day. When I decided to start my business, my dad was one of my biggest supporters and helped me every step of the way in the beginning. Having that guidance and encouragement early on made a huge impact on me.

Are you a mamaprenista?

Yes, and honestly, I'm still learning every day. I currently have two little boys with another baby boy on the way, so I'm very much in the thick of motherhood and entrepreneurship happening at the same time.

My biggest advice is to stop chasing the idea of doing everything perfectly. There are going to be seasons where business needs more from you and seasons where your family does, and that's okay. I've learned that flexibility matters more than perfection.

I also think having support is everything. Building a strong team in my business has allowed me to step away when I need to be present with my family, and at home, having people around you who support your goals makes a huge difference too.

Most importantly, don't feel guilty for loving both. For a long time, I felt like I had to choose between being ambitious and being a present mom, and I've realized you can absolutely be both. My boys are one of the biggest reasons I work as hard as I do.

What accomplishments are you the most proud of to date in your business?

The accomplishment I'm most proud of is the business we've been able to build in a relatively short amount of time while still maintaining strong relationships with both our clients and our team.

Over the years, we've grown quickly through referrals, results, and reputation, and I'm incredibly proud that many of our clients have stayed with us long-term because of the trust we've built and the impact our work has had on their businesses. In an industry where people are constantly jumping from one thing to the next, client retention means a lot to me.

I'm also incredibly proud of the team and company culture I've built. Every one of my full-time employees has stayed with me long-term, which is something I never take for granted. I truly believe that without my team, none of this works. They are a huge part of the business and the experience we provide to our clients every day.

I've always wanted to build a company where people feel valued, supported, appreciated, and excited to grow. I work hard to make sure my team knows how grateful I am for them, whether that's through benefits, bonuses, experiences together, or simply creating an environment where they feel respected and trusted. To me, building a business people genuinely want to stay part of is one of the biggest accomplishments of all.

What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?

I wish I had known earlier that you don't need to have everything perfectly figured out before starting. In the beginning, I spent so much time overthinking decisions, waiting until things felt "ready," or feeling like I needed to know exactly what the next five years would look like.

What I've learned is that so much of entrepreneurship is figuring things out as you go. Some of the biggest opportunities, growth moments, and lessons came from simply taking the risk before I felt fully prepared.

What did you do before starting your own business?

I earned my degree in business and marketing and started my career working in the finance department at a top law firm in Boston. While working full-time in corporate, I began freelancing social media on the side for local businesses and quickly realized there was a real demand for strategic, high-quality social media support.

What started as a side business grew rapidly through referrals and results. I eventually left my corporate job to focus on the business full-time, built a team, and expanded Social by Sinead & Co. into the agency it is today, managing social media for 45+ local and national businesses each month.

What made you take the leap to start your own business?

I always knew I wanted to be a mom someday, and at 26, I decided to take a chance on myself and start my business with that future in mind. I wanted to build something that gave me both purpose and flexibility. Something where I could do work I genuinely loved while also creating the kind of life I wanted for my future family.

As the business started growing, I realized entrepreneurship could give me something I wouldn't have in a traditional corporate path: more control over my time, financial freedom, and the ability to truly be present for my family.

Now, as I'm about to have my third baby boy with three boys under three, I'm incredibly grateful I took that leap. I've been able to build a business and team I'm beyond proud of while also raising my boys and being with them every day. At the same time, I get to help so many female entrepreneurs and business owners grow their businesses online, which makes the work even more meaningful to me.

Do you have any recent wins?

Over the last year, we've had the opportunity to land multiple large national companies as clients, which still feels surreal to me at times.

There are definitely moments where I stop and think about how this all started in my tiny apartment as a one-woman side business, and now we're working with brands and companies I once could have only dreamed of. It's been a really exciting season of growth for both me and my team.

Who are your customers?

We work with a mix of local and national businesses across industries including hospitality, beauty, wellness, retail, lifestyle, and service-based brands. Most of our clients are business owners who want a stronger online presence but don't have the time to consistently create content, stay on top of trends, or manage social media strategically on their own.

Many of our clients come to us looking for more than just posting. They want a team that understands branding, storytelling, content strategy, and how to turn social media into a real marketing tool that supports growth.

What's your top productivity tip?

Time blocking has been a game changer for me, especially as a business owner and mom. My schedule can get very busy very quickly, so having dedicated blocks of time for meetings, content creation, strategy, admin work, and family time helps me stay focused and avoid constantly switching between tasks.

What's your favorite business tool?

HoneyBook and ClickUp have both been complete game changers for my business.

HoneyBook has helped us streamline so much on the client side, from scheduling consultations and sending proposals to contracts, invoices, onboarding, and communication. It's made the client experience feel so much more organized and professional while saving us a huge amount of time behind the scenes.

ClickUp has completely transformed how my team manages content, projects, approvals, and day-to-day operations. With so many moving pieces in a social media agency, having strong systems in place is everything. It keeps our team organized, collaborative, and able to stay ahead for our clients instead of constantly reacting.

As the business has grown, I've realized the right systems and organization tools are just as important as creativity. They're a huge part of what allows us to scale while still delivering a high level of service.

What's your approach to work-life balance?

I think my approach has shifted a lot over the years, especially after becoming a mom. I don't really believe in perfect work-life balance, especially during certain seasons of life and business. For me, it's more about work-life integration and learning how to be present wherever I am.

There are days where business needs more from me and days where my family does, and I've learned to stop chasing this unrealistic idea that everything will always be perfectly even.

Sinead's story is a reminder that the agencies that quietly outlast the rest are usually the ones built on long-term relationships, not headline numbers, and that you can absolutely be ambitious and a present mom at the same time when you build a team and a culture that lets you. We are so glad to have her in the Entreprenista community and cannot wait to watch Social by Sinead & Co. continue to grow.
