With Heart Marketing

As a health and wellness founder, your purpose is to heal and help people, to make their lives better in whatever modality you specialize in. You are a healer. You are not a marketer, and your days should be spent on your craft, on the work you are so good at.

But marketing is part of running a business, and it's the part that never quite comes naturally. When you have to do something you don't specialize in, there's a learning curve. Most of you do it anyway, because you bootstrap it. You can't afford to pay someone, so you figure it out. Over time, it gets overwhelming and becomes a bottleneck.

Here's the hard part. You connect so deeply to your heart, because the business you're in is you giving your heart to help other people. But communicating that is hard. Getting your values and everything you stand for out of your head and putting the right words to it is not easy. So what you put out starts to feel scattered. You say one thing one time and something else the next, and none of it feels aligned.

What it looks like day to day

You're overwhelmed. You're not showing up the way you know you should. You know you need social media, you need email, you need a website, all the basic things that are supposed to help you market your business. But figuring out how to actually use them well can make your head explode.

Over time, that turns into overwhelm, and you stop showing up altogether. And when you're not showing up, you lose visibility, credibility, and connection.

It gets less hard with clarity

I know, because I lived it. I felt lost. I was struggling. I had lost my sense of purpose. And then, slowly, I started to figure out who I was again, coming back to what makes my heart happy, coming back to my purpose. When I finally found true alignment within myself, I had clarity. I became grounded and rooted, and from that place, everything got easier. Even now, on the days I feel off balance, I have somewhere to return to, a place of clarity and foundation that puts me right back on course.

A business is no different. Like a person, a business with clarity and true alignment makes everything it does intentional. Every decision comes from the heart and speaks to the heart of the people it serves.

Because every business has a heart, a purpose, a superpower. Every business has its own identity, personality, and people to connect with and serve. When you find that clarity, your business runs from a place of alignment, with its roots planted and a solid foundation. And any time you feel overwhelmed by a decision, you pause and come back to its heart, its purpose, and who it is at its core.

What happens once the foundation is built

You can't build a house without a foundation. Your walls have nowhere to stand.

That foundational work, getting clear on who you are, who you serve, and what makes you different, becomes your brand strategy. And once it's built, marketing stops feeling so hard. Every decision you make is aligned with who your business is at its heart and soul, so it's intentional instead of reactive. You stop second-guessing yourself, because you finally know what to say, how to say it, and who you're saying it to.

You speak directly to their heart. You understand their desires, their challenges, and exactly how your business can transform their lives.

This is what it means to rise. When you have clarity, a solid foundation, and you know how to express yourself, you rise with a marketing strategy that's aligned with who you are and the people you serve. Every decision you make is intentional. Every dollar you spend works harder for you. And marketing becomes less overwhelming and more effective.

I'm seeing this play out right now with a client in the yoga and holistic healing space. The social media manager bringing her brand to life put it this way. The brand strategy gives her "a really clear foundation to execute from, rather than having to guess what feels right for the brand."

Your first step

If marketing feels this hard, take it as your sign. It doesn't mean you're doing it wrong. It means the foundation isn't there yet.

So before you post one more time, pause and come back to the heart and soul of your business. Get clear on who you are, who you serve, and what you stand for. Build the foundation first. That's where marketing finally starts to feel less hard, and where a heart-centered marketing strategy takes root.

And if you'd like a hand finding that clarity, let's have a conversation.
