How Venus Nicole Built Voilà Marketing to Help Women and BIPOC-Owned Businesses Break Through Sales Plateaus

Meet Venus Nicole, founder of Voilà Marketing, a marketing consultancy dedicated to helping women-owned and BIPOC-owned businesses break out of sales plateaus and build sustainable marketing plans that keep qualified leads coming. Venus spent over a decade building her expertise across door-to-door sales, self-taught web design, digital marketing management, and strategic marketing leadership, working with clients across healthcare, luxury ecommerce, aesthetics, wellness, and political sectors before deciding her ambitions had simply outgrown any role she could be hired into.

She launched Voilà Marketing not to pitch, but to listen. Her early strategy was built entirely on 15-minute conversations with prospective clients, showing up to hear their stories before ever talking about her own. That approach led to meaningful connections and long-term clients, and it still reflects exactly how she runs her business today.

Please share a brief introduction and your business:

Hi my name is Venus, and I am the founder Voilà Marketing! I help women owned and BIPOC owned businesses break out of sales plateaus and build sustainable marketing plans that keep qualified leads coming, to foster growth and scale.

Take us back to when you launched? What was your marketing strategy?

To get the word out, first and foremost I knew I needed to expand my network. There was no point in getting a word out if there was no one to hear the word. So I joined as many networking groups and events as possible and told anyone who had the capacity to hear and read about my business and what I do. In addition to that I reached out to multiple prospective clients and just asked to have 15 minutes of their time to talk to them, not to pitch, but to just listen to their stories and how they built what they built. This led to many meaningful conversations, and solid long term clients.

Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

No, not at first. It was during my first marketing agency role that I realized I eventually wanted to branch out and build my own business. Once that became clear, I knew it was only a matter of time, I just needed to build enough experience to do it on my own.

What accomplishments are you the most proud of to date in your business?

I've had the pleasure of working with an Author and Poet whose work captures the resilience of the human spirit and the beauty found in transformation. I was able to take her passion and transform it into a website that captures all that she is and all that she does.

What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?

I wish I knew how quickly I could make connections simply by joining the virtual meetings.

What did you do before starting your own business?

Before founding Voilà Marketing, I built more than a decade of experience across sales and marketing. My career started in door-to-door sales, then expanded into self-taught web design, digital marketing management, and eventually strategic marketing leadership. Over the years, I spent extensive time in the agency world, partnering with clients across healthcare, luxury ecommerce, aesthetics, wellness, and political sectors.

What made you take the leap to start your own business?

My ambitions and goals have always been bigger than any position I held. I wanted the freedom to choose who I worked with, how I worked, and the kind of impact I could make. More than that, I was ready to step away from the bureaucracy of the corporate world and build something of my own. Starting my business felt like the natural next step, a chance to take ownership of my skills, my vision, and the future I wanted to create.

Do you have any recent wins?

We will soon be partnering with a foundation that provides scholarships for young aspiring students.

What's one app on your phone that you cannot live without?

The clock app, I am a ferocious napper, and so I need my clock app to set alarms, otherwise I'll sleep the entire day away.

Who are your customers?

My customers are women & BIPOC owned wellness, aesthetics, coaching, or other high-touch premium service businesses that have built meaningful traction, but have outgrown the marketing and lead generation strategies that once supported growth. The business now needs a more strategic plan, stronger positioning, and a scalable path to attracting qualified clients.

What's your top productivity tip?

Getting a team in place to support you. Whether that's a coach to keep you motivated, or a babysitter to help with the kids. Your team will help you become as productive as possible.

What's your favorite business tool?

Calendly! I am always booking calls with people, and Calendly removes so much friction from setting up those calls, AND they make sure you don't double book yourself!

What's your approach to work-life balance?

I will make deals with myself about how I divide my hours. If I want to spend the evening drinking wine and watching reality tv (4 hours), then I need to complete 3 high priority tasks before closing my computer for the day. This way I know I won't think about the tasks looming over me because I know I already knocked out 3.

How do you avoid burn-out?

Listening to my body. My body gives me signs when I'm doing too much and need to rest. I'm mindful of that and take rest days when I'm pushing too hard.

What advice do you have for aspiring Entreprenistas?

I would say to continuously build your network and then lean on them for support when you need it! It also takes a tribe to build and run a business!

Venus is a reminder that the most powerful marketing strategy is often the most human one: show up, listen first, and let the relationships do the work. We are so excited to have her in the Entreprenista community and cannot wait to watch Voilà Marketing continue to grow.
