Kathleen Plankenhorn’s App Helps You Decide What Deserves Your Time
With an MBA, a decade in insurance operations, and no engineering background, she built the anti-procrastination app You Have Time on her own.

Every task in You Have Time gets sorted onto a path: do it, delegate it, hand it to AI, book a service, or let it go. Only the first path ends with you doing the work yourself. Your time goes only to the tasks that deserve it.
Kathleen Plankenhorn is the solo founder of You Have Time, an anti-procrastination task-triage app. With an MBA, more than 10 years in insurance operations, and no engineering background, she built the entire product herself using AI as a tool, and she is a member of the Entreprenista League.
“Time and opportunity align eventually, but only if you’re paying attention when they do,” Kathleen says.
The tool that was missing
Kathleen grew up in a family of business owners. Her grandparents on both sides ran businesses of their own, including an industrial equipment and supply distributor, a gravel pit, and a fabric store. She always joked that once she had a good idea, she would start one too.
The idea came from a gap she kept noticing in her own life and in the lives of the people she loves. “I knew what I needed to do, and knowing wasn’t the same as doing it,” she says. “I wanted to build the tool that was missing, the one that treats every task as a real decision.”
Every decision in the app starts with the same question. “Before you do a task, ask whether it actually has to be you doing the task,” Kathleen says. Sorting a task before you spend a single minute on it, she adds, saves more time than any time-blocking ever will.
Every feature, system, and security fix
Kathleen counts the solo build as the accomplishment she is most proud of. She taught herself to do it, handling everything from features to security fixes with AI as one tool in her kit.
She works on You Have Time around a full-time job. “My time is limited and every hour has to earn its place,” she says. She spent a long time treating fast, complete, accurate work as proof she was capable. Letting some things go without guilt is part of how she protects her energy now.
She also got it off the ground without spending money she didn’t have. “You don’t need funding, a team, or the ‘right’ moment to start,” she says.
For chronic avoiders and overwhelmed professionals
You Have Time is for people who know exactly what they should be doing and still can’t seem to do it. That looks different from person to person: chronic avoiders, overwhelmed professionals, people carrying the invisible mental load of a household or team, and neurodivergent people who need a different kind of structure.
“I built You Have Time so it works for all of them without making any one group feel singled out,” Kathleen says. The app connects to Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook to find your free time, and Classic Mode adds structure and accountability. On harder days, Flow Mode offers a gentler running list with shame-free language.
A quiet launch and a daily habit
Kathleen’s launch plan was almost entirely content, with daily reels about what she was building and why. Launch week was quieter than she would have liked, and she said so publicly.
“A quieter launch turned into something much more valuable: a habit of showing up consistently and being real about the process, which in the long term builds trust,” she says.
She treated that quiet week as the beginning of the work. Since then, she has landed press coverage and started forming relationships with other founders.
Coffee chats and reciprocity
Inside the Entreprenista League, Kathleen learned quickly where momentum comes from. “The real momentum starts once you start DM’ing people directly, asking for coffee chats, and being upfront about where you are in your journey,” she says. “The community rewards initiative and reciprocity.”
The operating system of your life
“The near-term goal is 1,500 users, which will allow me to focus my energy on continuing to build and scale You Have Time,” Kathleen says. After that, the roadmap includes a native mobile app, deeper tools for teams and managers, and more ways for the app to help people delegate tasks and let them go. Her long-term vision is to create what she calls the “Operating System of Your Life.”

Kathleen’s story is a reminder that momentum often starts with a DM and a coffee chat. The Entreprenista League surrounds you with women founders who reward that kind of initiative and return the favor. Learn more about the Entreprenista League right here.
