Tanu Tiwari Built The Conscious Leader Co. to Redefine Leadership
The leadership coach and author of Disengaged on why leadership is never neutral
July 23, 2026
Leadership is never neutral. It either elevates people on the receiving end or quietly diminishes them, and Tanu Tiwari has spent nearly 2 decades watching both play out inside global companies. Along the way, she noticed that the biggest barriers to performance were rarely technical. They were human.
Tanu Tiwari is the founder of The Conscious Leader Co., a leadership coach, speaker, and author of her forthcoming book, Disengaged. A member of the Entreprenista League, she built her career leading marketing, data, and analytics teams across the UK, India, and the United States before turning her attention to the people behind the metrics. She is an ICF-certified coach who still loves the corporate world she came from.
Her path as a founder began with a corporate career she never expected to leave.
A pattern she couldn't stop thinking about
Tanu worked with organizations ranging from boutique businesses to global companies, including Google and PwC, helping leaders make better decisions through data and strategy. The longer she did it, the clearer one pattern became: The obstacles that held teams back were almost never about the technology.
This realization led her to become an ICF-certified leadership coach during her corporate career. While becoming a founder was never a lifelong dream, it grew out of a problem she couldn't stop thinking about. When Tanu understood how much of a person's life a single leader can shape, she "wanted to help leaders become more intentional about that responsibility." We spend thousands of hours at work, and the person in charge influences far more than a paycheck.
From coaching sessions to something larger
What started as one-on-one coaching grew into workshops, keynote talks, leadership frameworks, and Disengaged, her forthcoming book about why people slowly disconnect from work and what leaders can do differently. Seeing her ideas influence entire organizations, not just individual leaders, is what makes the work meaningful to her.
As a recovering perfectionist, she once believed she needed every detail figured out before putting herself out there. In reality, every conversation, client, and piece of content taught her something she could not have learned by thinking alone.
Who she works with
Tanu coaches ambitious managers, directors, executives, and founders, many of whom are technically exceptional but were never taught how to lead people or navigate complexity. She also partners with organizations that want to strengthen leadership, team engagement, and culture from the inside out.
What's next
Tanu is publishing Disengaged, growing her keynote speaking, and developing scalable leadership programs that help managers build teams where people genuinely want to contribute. Her advice for other founders is to build something that reflects their own values rather than copying someone else.
