Nikki Rausch Built Sales Maven to Make Selling Feel Human

July 23, 2026

Nikki Rausch once delivered a sales presentation in a Mexican restaurant while the waitress called out food orders over her. She has spoken in diners with music blaring and in conference rooms packed too tight. None of it was glamorous, but she is grateful for every room.

Nikki Rausch is the founder of Sales Maven and a sales strategist who teaches women founders to sell with confidence, clarity, and integrity. After 17 years in technology sales, she built a business that now includes private coaching, group programs, speaking, a top-ranked podcast, and 3 books. A member of the Entreprenista League, she came to entrepreneurship reluctantly. Here is what changed her mind.

Experience in tech sales

Nikki spent 17 years in technology sales before founding Sales Maven in 2013. As an introvert, she never connected with the pushy stereotype of a salesperson. Instead she became fascinated by communication, human behavior, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and found that trust and genuine curiosity outperformed pressure every time.

The woman who told her to teach it

After leaving corporate sales, Nikki began networking with women founders and noticed a pattern. Many were exceptional at their work but struggled to sell it. She shared a few simple conversation frameworks, and their results changed quickly. One of those women pulled her aside and encouraged her to teach sales as a business. “Until that moment, it had never occurred to me that people would pay to learn sales skills,” she says.

Consistency as the flex

Ask Nikki what she is proudest of and she does not name a revenue milestone. She names consistency. Her membership community has run for 9 years. Her podcast has published weekly for more than 6 years without a missing an episode, recently passing 300. Her newsletter has gone out for more than 12 years without missing an issue. “Small actions, repeated over time, can create a lasting impact,” she says.

Selling without the pressure

Her core message to founders is that sales does not have to be as hard as they think. She teaches 3 steps: make sure the other person recognizes a real need, determine whether your offer is the right fit, and, ask permission before presenting your solution and invite them to work with you. “When you ask permission, you create trust,” she says. “The conversation becomes collaborative instead of convincing.”

What's next

Nikki does not need every step mapped years in advance. She plans to keep refining and expanding how she teaches relationship-based sales through coaching, speaking, podcasting, and new offerings, while staying curious about what her clients need next.
