How Nikki May Built Social Blueprint, a Systems-Driven Social Media Agency That Scales

February 24, 2026

Please share a brief introduction and your business:

Hi, I'm Nikki, the owner and founder of Social Blueprint 👋🏻 We are a full-service social media agency that specializes in creating content that actually gets you sales and builds an engaged community.

Now I know everyone says that. We actually DO it.

Because we view social media as part of your marketing ecosystem, we build out funnels and design your content to reach new viewers with the goal of getting them to start going down those funnels and ultimately buy from you or work with you.

Take us back to when you launched? What was your marketing strategy?

Since I was starting a social media agency I knew I had to market on social media... obviously. This was a huge advantage since I had the experience.

I started with very detailed carousels and talking heads where I tried to cover as much information as possible to reach other business owners and start educating them.

It kind of worked but not as quickly as I wanted it to.

The turning point came when I realized that educational content wasn't the problem; too much educational content at one time was.

So I started sharing bite-sized pieces of actionable content and my account and client base blew up.

Once I saw what my audience liked I put together a freebie to provide more of that same information to grow my email list and then I added an implementation guide as an upsell. That has been my biggest lead generator.

Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

Yep. I have known it since I was 7 years old when I started gluing googly eyes to puff balls and selling them for $0.25.

What accomplishments are you the most proud of to date in your business?

I am incredibly proud, and sometimes shocked, at the rate of growth my business has had and how long our clients stay with us. We have a minimum of 6 months in our contracts when someone becomes a client. But our first five clients that came on in 2024 are still our clients today.

What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?

Charge way more than you think you should. Be brave and have the confidence that people will pay for it. Especially in a service niche where your payroll (when you start growing a team) will be your biggest expense and your most limiting factor to growing your business.

Keep in mind that your business needs to make enough money for you to NOT work in the client day to day deliverables. If you only charge enough to pay yourself, you won't be able to outsource when you need to.

When hiring, what is your go-to interview question?

"Are you asking for forgiveness or asking for permission?"

Everybody is different but I want to ask for forgiveness from a person who thinks they should try something new and goes for it without running everything by me.

"Your car breaks down the day before you have an appointment. What do you do?"

I don't know what is up with people thinking their car not starting means they don't have to work. If anyone says anything along the lines of not showing up or rescheduling, I won't let them on my team.

What did you do before starting your own business?

I have worked in social media since 2020. I originally worked in-house as a Social Media Manager and was promoted to their Marketing Director where I learned about the whole marketing ecosystem and how social media fits into it. (Hint hint: this is what sets Social Blueprint apart.)

What made you take the leap to start your own business?

While I was a Marketing Director, I started freelancing social media for other companies on the side. After seeing the return that social media had on the businesses I was supporting I decided that I wanted to do it for myself and grow my own company.

Do you have any recent wins?

My revenue grew by 5x which is wild! Here's to another 5x year 🥂

What's one app on your phone that you cannot live without?

Google Calendar. That app runs my life right now.

Who are your customers?

We work with both influencers and businesses and while 25% of our clients are in the childcare industry, we do it all. From sawmill manufacturers, to mental health advocates, to doctors, to balloon artists, we have a strategy that works across ALL niches and we tailor each piece of content to you.

What's your favorite business tool?

I love Asana for project management. It's easy to use, you get notified when someone completes a task you assigned them and communication about a task can stay within the task so it's easy to refer to and find. It keeps my email and messages uncluttered.

How do you avoid burn-out?

Outsource. Hiring out. You CANNOT do it all yourself.

What advice do you have for aspiring Entreprenistas?

There are days when you will wonder, "Why did I ever think I could do this?" Go to sleep. Don't burn it all to the ground. And talk to your community of other business owners so they can help you through it. It's a lonely journey unless you intentionally build your community.
