Michele Carrion Yopps: Founder & Creator at Yoga Moxi LLC

November 18, 2025

Please share a brief introduction about yourself and your business

I'm Michele Carrión Yopps, a passionate yoga teacher and creative entrepreneur. After two decades working in media and marketing, I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2014 and realized how challenging it can be for new teachers to remember class material, find ongoing inspiration, and confidently teach what they know.

Yoga Moxi was born from my own teaching journey—along with conversations with other yoga teachers—recognizing that there wasn’t a practical, all-in-one resource for lesson planning, teaching tips, or a supportive teacher community. I envisioned an app that would help yoga teachers and students access inspiration, guidance, wisdom, and collaboration opportunities any time they needed them. My mission with Yoga Moxi is to empower teachers and students with the confidence, resources, and encouragement to keep growing and sharing their love of yoga.

Who are your customers?

Yoga Teachers Yoga Students & Wellness Enthusiasts

What was your background prior to starting your own business?

Media & Marketing (Radio)

What made you take the leap to start your own business?

The idea for the app was initiated during covid lockdown. Most of our lives were moved to a virtual space, including yoga classes. The opportunity to share and practice was limited, and I wanted to ensure that I could have a meaningful business that was easily accessible and not subject to any type of future shutdowns.

Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

Yes - the idea of being creative and providing a brand or service of some sort that would be (community) supportive was always a goal.

What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way so far and what have you learned from it?

One of the biggest challenges has been with working with service providers, (attorneys, brands, etc.), that have created and believe their own "hype", but who do not deliver (sometimes they do not know how to properly deliver what they agreed to) quality end-results. The lack of accountability and professionalism in general is eye opening, but it has only fueled my efforts to maintain personal and brand integrity in everything I do. It has also cemented the fact that most business interactions should have an "agreement" to serve as reference, manage expectations, and protect all parties.

What accomplishment are the most proud of to date in your business?

Very proud of how the app has developed with functional features and offerings for subscribers. The process of translating a creative idea into a functional (and usable) feature makes me proud as a yoga teacher and business owner.

Do you have any recent wins from the last year that you'd like to celebrate with our community?

It is always a win to make great connections with like-minded individuals that you can learn from. This year we promoted the Yoga Moxi app at a large yoga event, and met so many teachers and students that provided honest feedback and insight to share and help us grow. Those types of interactions are always a big win!

What's next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?

We are looking to grow our overall user base, paid subscriptions and Partnerships. There is untapped and unlimited potential with our new and potential partners to create and share. We always strive to create a community based on solid support, integrity and information. Yoga Moxi is " Google for Yoga Teachers".

What is your top productivity tip?

Do the simpler tasks first, then tackle the larger ones. You will feel like you accomplished more in the end.

On the flip side, how do you avoid burnout?

Weekly self-care is the best defense for burnout. Short daily walks, spa days, yoga, reading, etc. Taking a few hours, a day or more to refresh and reset our bodies and minds is key.

What is your approach to work-life balance / integration?

Schedule your self-care rituals the same way you schedule your appointments, projects, etc. It will give you something great to look forward to, and allow you time to create that "space" for yourself.

What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?

I joined in April 2025, and wish I had joined sooner in my journey to fully utilize the resources and connections this network provides.

What's the one app on your phone you absolutely cannot live without and why?

Yoga Moxi (insert "smile" here)

What is your favorite business tool or solution and why?

Currently using "Notion" for Project Management, but hear great things about "Asana", and may make a switch.

What advice do you have for aspiring Entreprenistas?

Ask for help within your inner circle. It will lead to the contact you need and will work best for your project/task. Also, give yourself time and grace to work through something new. (Just like a yoga practice!) Lastly, you do not know it all, and it is o.k. to ask for help.
